School Governance
GOVERNANCE COUNCIL
As a LAUSD affiliated charter school, SOEC has significant autonomy over policies, programs, and procedures. The Governance Council, which manages these policies and procedures, is comprised of elected teachers, parents, and staff representatives. The council participates in decisions regarding curriculum, hiring, budget, enrollment, and day-to-day and long-term school administration concerns.
The Governance Council is comprised of 14 representatives, divided between staff and parents. Elections for the two year terms are held in the fall of each year to fill vacant Governance Council positions.
MEETINGS:
Governance Council meetings are held the fourth Thursday of the month, at 2:40 pm, in the Auditorium. Meetings are open to the public, and parents, guardians, and all members of the community are encouraged to attend.
If you want to place an item on the agenda and/or have a concern or idea you wish to make known to the Council, please contact council chair, Kanchan Mattoo at [email protected]. Monthly meeting times and dates are posted on the school calendar and are part of the weekly robo call and weekly announcements on Parent Square. Meeting notices and agendas are posted on the Governance bulletin board in the main office.
