American Sign Language (ASL) is the language used by deaf people in the U.S, and is rapidly growing in popularity among hearing people thanks to TV shows like Signing Time and Switched at Birth. This class will teach basic signs from the following topics: Introducing yourself, signing your name, animals, sports, food, time and numbers, feelings, colors, family and weekend activities. The students’ signing and receptive skills will be engaged through various games and activities each week. This class will also strive to promote acceptance of differences, as well as multi-lingualism.
